Born and raised right here in Phoenix, Arizona, Liz Provost has made a name for herself in the tattoo community, and continues to do so with each piece she completes.
Never being interested in tattoos when she was younger, aside from the temporary ones we all enjoyed (and still enjoy!) as a child, her interest in tattoos sparked when she was 18 years old. However, it wasn’t herself getting a tattoo that caught her attention. It was watching Evil Dave tattoo her boyfriend at the time, which she thought was the coolest thing.
After getting her first large piece done by Tony Olvera, she knew she wanted to become a part and make a name for herself in the industry.
But getting to where she is now was not an easy thing for her to do.
While the vast majority of tattoo artists serve as an apprentice for an allotted period of time, Liz never had that opportunity. Despite asking multiple artists for the chance to learn under them, each one of them turned her down and told her to give up on becoming a tattoo artist because they thought she’d never make it.
So you know what she did? She taught herself.
Even though she wished she could have apprenticed for someone, Liz’s hard belief on not giving up on herself or her dreams helped to transform her into the artist she is today. And from her work, she is still proving all of the people who told her that she could never make it completely and utterly wrong.
Some of her favorite tattoos to do are realism and neo-traditional, but she is well versed in many styles and loves to be challenged. One of her favorite tattoos that she has done was a portrait of a girl with glitter makeup on her face, and if you want to get a tattoo from Liz… she really wants to tattoo a full, heavy black and grey leg sleeve with various female portraits.
While Liz has been a tattoo artist for quite some time now, she isn’t done learning. She’s constantly watching other artists tattoo, as well as participating and attending conventions to study different techniques as well as meet new artists.
