Kyle O’Malley will be featuring pieces from his current collection titled “Proverb”
in the RAC gallery for the entire month of May.
Join us for an artist reception in his honor
on Friday, May 15th from 6-9PM.
Kyle O’Malley was born in 1990 in Phoenix where he grew up. Through out his child hood Kyle was heavily encouraged by his father to pick up a pencil, think creatively, and draw. In college, after attending business school at Arizona State University he moved to Los Angeles in 2010 where he studied for a BFA in Painting at Otis College of Art and Design. Later, in 2011 he returned to ASU where he received a degree in Painting.
O’Malley developed an interest in exploring “unacceptable ideas” as a teenager which lead to frequent conflict with his superiors. Getting into trouble often for questioning the current status quo did not wither his inclination to go against the grain but instead motivated him.
His deeply instilled relationships with religion, science, death, and art are the driving forces behind his work. Each new work is an idea conceived from one of, or sometimes a combination of these things. “I get inspired by simple but BIG ideas. I love making art that triggers a reaction. Whether it’s purely emotional or intellectual as long as it gets you thinking bigger.”
Now 25 years old, Kyle continues to produce work out of his Tempe studio for restaurants and collectors nationwide.
